Profile
Debu Ghorai was born and raised in the scenic surroundings of the Keleghai River region in West Bengal. He completed his secondary education at Nezibheri S.C. High School and went on to pursue his higher secondary studies at Mangalamaro Mangala Academy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Midnapore College (Autonomous) in 2022. Driven by a strong passion for chemistry, he continued his academic journey at the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur for his Master’s degree. During his M.Sc., he secured the top position in his department and was awarded a prestigious Silver Medal. His postgraduate research focused on C–H functionalization in the cyclopentane-1,3-dione system under the guidance of Dr. Tapas Das. Currently, Debu is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where his research focused on strain release driven reaction of azabicyclo[1.1.0]-butyl (ABB) carbinols. Outside of lab Debu specially enjoys watching and playing cricket, eating good and tasty food and travelling.
