Profile
Barnini Mukherjee was born in Kolkata, India and carried out her BSc in Chemistry from Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College, which is affiliated to the University of Calcutta, and MSc in Chemistry from Jadavpur University. She completed her master’s project, titled “An investigation towards synthesis and application of chiral Hantzsch esters,” under the supervision of Dr. Saubhik Halder and is currently pursuing her doctoral research under the guidance of Dr. Santanu Panda at IIT Kharagpur. Her research involves the study of 1,2-metallate rearrangements of boron and the functionalization of organoboron compounds, utilizing computational studies to elucidate reaction mechanisms and electronic structures. Her primary objective is to bridge synthetic methodology with theoretical insights to develop new chemical transformations. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, painting, and reading books.
